Interest in plastic surgery is at an all-time high, but stigma and misinformation still surround the industry and patients. Welcome to Life in Plastic , a series by Allure that aims to explain cosmetic procedures and provide all the information you'll need to make the decision that is right for your body — no judgment, just the facts. Here, we're covering everything you need to know about fillers. We hear it from experts every day: Cosmetic injections are not akin to haircuts and shouldn't be approached with the same it'll-grow-back attitude, since having prescription drugs and medical devices — as neurotoxins and fillers, respectively, are classified by the Food and Drug Administration — shot into one's face can carry consequences far more serious than a botched bangs trim.
Moderna COVID-19 vaccine may cause side effects in people with facial fillers
6 questions about facial swelling and COVID vaccines answered - Drug Discovery and Development
Although the vaccine is supported as highly protective against the virus, shortly after its deployment, reports emerged of a few unexpected side effects in people who had a history of facial fillers. However, these reactions are extremely uncommon, occurring in only 3 patients of the 15, who participated in the trial, data from the Moderna vaccine clinical trial indicate. In the 3 patients with a history of cosmetic fillers, mild facial swelling was seen following receipt of the vaccine; in 2 patients, on the day of vaccination, and in the other patient, 2 days after vaccination. Filler injection had been administered 2 weeks before the vaccine in 1 patient and 6 months previously in another. Interestingly, 1 patient who had lip filler had focal lip swelling, but actually had reported a similar reaction in the lips in the past after influenza vaccination. Cohen, MD.
Should You Really Worry About Cosmetic Filler & The COVID-19 Vaccine?
Curious about under eye fillers for dark circles? Even though I would feel great energy wise my dark circles would make me look very tired, and would completely derail my confidence. At the end of the day, I just wanted to feel confident with or without makeup and not look so tired. After determining there was no magical concealer, cream, or over-the-counter treatment to address my under eye circles, I decided to start researching fillers and reached out to Allergan to learn more about the entire process. I had always seen amazing under eye filler before and afters, and I was really curious to see if similar results were attainable for me.
Despite early data showing that the vaccine is highly protective against the virus , new reports suggest that it's also caused an unexpected side effect in people with facial fillers. In a recent review of the vaccine conducted by the FDA advisory committee, it was noted that a handful of people who had previously gotten cosmetic facial fillers had mild reactions after receiving their second doses during Moderna's vaccine trial. Though this may sound slightly alarming to the thousands of people who receive fillers regularly, it's worth noting that these reactions have been extremely rare occurrences, and according to doctors, it isn't much to worry about. Of the three patients, one had filler injected two weeks prior to getting the vaccine, while another had gotten theirs six months prior.
