In response to the multitude of questions that come up on oil consumption, valve cover changes, and de-smogging I wanted to do a write up on the MGB PCV system. I have gone through quite a few trials due to a poorly functioning PCV system. I cannot stress enough the importance of this system and the fact that it should stay on the car. I've borrowed heavily from an article at British Automotive. I am afraid that with their recent closing this information may disappear into the ether.

MG Midget & A H Sprite Exhaust Systems and Components

The first version was essentially a slightly more expensive badge-engineered version of the Austin-Healey Sprite MKII and retained the quarter-elliptic sprung rear axle from the original Sprite. A hard top, heater, radio and luggage rack were available as factory fitted extras. Wire-spoked wheels became available. The doors had no external handles or locks and the windows were sliding Perspex side-screens. A heater was an optional extra.

During the engine design stage, an EGR control strategy has to be developed to meet not just NOx reduction targets, but to ensure PM emissions meet design targets, that fuel consumption does not increase excessively and that vehicle performance meets customer expectations.

My rear main oil seal has become a bit dribblesome. I have been contemplating a Peter May style up-rated oil seal but I have seen mixed reviews on these, plus I don't want to take the engine out unless I really have to.
